Olá Lisboa!- Feira da Ladra, Castelo de São Jorge, Marques de Pombal

On thing that I really wanted to do was to visit a flea market in Lisbon. I researched and found out about the Feira da Ladra, a huge flea market which is held every Tuesday and Saturday from dawn to dusk. It was right in Alfama so it was only a stone's throw away to where I stayed. On my shopping list was one of those gorgeous tiles they have everywhere on their buildings. Those little stands had everything from old junk to even professional looking retailers. I spent the morning rummaging through all those little stands. Later that day I went all the way up to the Castelo. In my opinion you get by far the best view of the city from up there. I don't know what I was thinking that day but I was super eager and motivated to walk from the Castelo to Marques de Pombal. It was such a long walk because it took me quite some left and right turns to find my way.
The weather that day was so lovely and I was able to read and relax a little bit in the Eduardo VII Park.

Feira da Ladra-it was quite crowded that day

Cute old man

On my way up to the Castelo de São Jorge-it was quite a workout going up there

lovely view with all those red roofs-I was even able to see Rossio

It was really fun actually walking ON the castle

There were a lot of beautiful peacocks running around the castle

On my way down I saw these ruins of a roman theater in the middle of residential area

I was in Lisbon around the time of the Chinese new year and by accident I came across a huge Chinese festival/celebration ceremony

The view of the Marques de Pombal

I ended the day by driving all the way out to do a little bit of shopping in this huge shopping mall!

Lisbon-Belém

On the third day we went to Belém. A district in the southwest of Lisbon. The first stop was Padrao dos Descobrimentos, a monument to cherish the Portuguese Age of discovery which in all honesty I wasn't really fond of. Maybe it is just me but I really don't like the idea of disguising exploitation of countries with braveness and recklessness of those so called 'explorers'. Just a few steps away was the Torre de Belém, a beautiful building which is also a UNESCO world heritage. On that day we also saw Jerónimos Monastery, had lunch at Pastéis de Belém and walk uphill where we saw I huge street under construction, which was indeed quite charming to see.

Me showing where we are-LISBON

In front of the Torre de Belèm

Huge fountain in front of Jerónimos Monastery

Pastéis de Belém-it is a quite crowded space and very touristy

Delicious Pastéis and by far the creamiest hot chocolate I've ever had-it was almost chocolate pudding

Lisbon day 2

The second day we rented a car and drove along the coast to Cascais, where we spent the afternoon on the beach. It was really sunny that day and we were able to sit on the beach whilst having a picnic and generally enjoying life. Around sunset we drove a little further to Cabo de Roca which was by far my favorite, it was so beautiful and the pictures can only tell a little bit of the real beauty those rocks had to offer.

Our little picnic-after a while everything tasted a little bit sandy ^^

Outfit: Sweater-COS, Bomber jacket-H&M, Jeans-Zara

I even managed to read a little bit-this is my book for the month of February. We were liars by e.lockhart-I got through the book super quickly and it was really interesting to read through the mystery of the book

Enjoying my time on the beach!

Driving along the coast was such a beautiful experience

Cabo de Roca

We went to the lowest point of the rock and just sat there listing to the oceans. I felt such a contentedness in that moment and it is such a good memories to look back!

The beautiful sunset!

Lisbon part 1

I'm really sorry for the lack of posts but as you could guessed I had my finals last month so my life mostly consisted of learning. Right after my exams me and a friend of mine decided to have a 5 day vacation to sunny Lisbon! And it was a great decisions because it was the perfect distraction to my normal university life. We arrived on Wednesday and were welcomed by the sun although it was only about 17°C it almost felt like summer (compared to Germany).  Most of the time I was even able to leave my winter coat at home which was really nice! All in all I can say that Lisbon is a really nice city and I hopeI can revisit Lisboa in the summer times and maybe try out a surf course (?!).

The first stop was Gare do Oriente, which is the train station. We started to walk towards the peer and saw the Torre Vasco de Gama which in fact is the tallest building in Lisbon

Of course we had to get in one of those Telecabines and had a really amazing view from above
We had delicious fish in one of those restaurants at the peer- the fish in Lisbon is really cheap and super fresh

The thing I was really excited about where all those buildings with the beautiful and unique looking tile!
