On the third day we went to Belém. A district in the southwest of Lisbon. The first stop was Padrao dos Descobrimentos, a monument to cherish the Portuguese Age of discovery which in all honesty I wasn't really fond of. Maybe it is just me but I really don't like the idea of disguising exploitation of countries with braveness and recklessness of those so called 'explorers'. Just a few steps away was the Torre de Belém, a beautiful building which is also a UNESCO world heritage. On that day we also saw Jerónimos Monastery, had lunch at Pastéis de Belém and walk uphill where we saw I huge street under construction, which was indeed quite charming to see.

Huge fountain in front of Jerónimos Monastery |
Pastéis de Belém-it is a quite crowded space and very touristy |
Delicious Pastéis and by far the creamiest hot chocolate I've ever had-it was almost chocolate pudding |
