This was my first attempt to make bulgogi and I must say it wasn't hard to make at all. And the result is just so enjoyable! Like all my other korean cravings this started last year whilst I was in China. My korean friends invited me to cook and eat bulgogi with them. Also China has a more and more korean barbecue places. It quickly found a spot in my heart. In my opinion it taste the best with rice and lettuce. Sadly I don't have a picture of how to eat it (because me and my parents demolished it so fast ^.^) but you can easily google it! So here is the recipe to it:
Ingredients for about 2-3 servings: 300gr. of beef tenderloin, a carrot, 1 1/2 onions, 1/2 a pear, 2 gloves of garlic, a thumb size piece of ginger, 1 1/2 tbs brown sugar, 1 tbs of sesame oil, 1 1/2 tbs of soy sauce and ground pepper
1. Step: Cut the beef into 1-2 cm long strips |
2. Step: Cut the pear and half of the onion. Also add the ginger and garlic and puree it |
3. Step: Put the meat into a bowl and pour over the pear-onion mixture |
4. Step: Cut the onion and the carrot into slice and mix it with the meat. Than season it with the sugar, soy sauce, pepper and sesame oil |
5. Step: Mix everything evenly |
6. Step: Put plastic foil over it and let it marinate in the refrigerator over night |
7. Step: The final step, you can either put it on the grill or if you are just lazy like me fry it in the pan for about 10-15 minutes and then you can enjoy your delicious bulgogi! |
