Dongdaemun Design Plaza

On Friday my last exam for the Midterms ended so on Saturday me and my friends decided to have a little walk from City Hall to Dongdaemun Design Plaza. We walked next to the very atmospheric Cheonggyecheon stream and it was my first time walking there at night. I feel like it is always nice to have a little stream like that in the middle of the city to break up the static image. But the main purpose for me was to see the beautiful installation of the LED roses. I can't imagine how much effort it must have took to install 21.000 (!) LED roses >.<

A lot of people enjoying Cheonggyecheon

The walls of Cheonggyecheon are filled with all kinds of different art work from old historic paintings to projections which all help to brighten the atmosphere

Donghae 동해

For Chuseok which is korean Thanksgiving me and my friends went on a little two days trip to Donghae which is located in the northeast of South Korea. We took the bus from Seoul and it took about four hours to get there but it was so worth it. I really enjoyed this little getaway it had quite the small town charm and we could really enjoy the beautiful scenery. We rented a really cozy Airbnb just next to the beach, ate fish for almost every meal, swam in the ocean and had really nice walks. Now I really want to go back but I have to study for my midterms!

The beautiful view from our Airbnb

In the morning we hiked up to the nearby lighthouse

We had a blast walking on this bridge because it was quite wobbly

Namsan Tower

Two weeks ago me and my friends went to Namsan Tower.  Maybe some of you remember my post from two years ago where I went with my Korean friend. To me Namsan tower is kind of the landmark of Seoul I feel like in almost every k-drama shot in Seoul there has to be at least one scene up on Namsan Tower. Like always it was also really crowded on the day we went but we came right for the beautiful sunset!

The sunset was really beautiful-at one point the sun was shaded in a beautiful red color

Sogang festival

Last week we had a festival in our university. These kind of festivals are pretty common here in Korea. The main attraction are of course the musical acts that performed. Apart from a lot of school bands/dance groups/rap crews the university also invited some famous Korean musicians. This years line up included MAMAMOO, YB, Exid, 10cm and my personal favorite Hyukoh. It was such a nice atmosphere to go there in the evening hanging around with new foreign friends and listing to some nice music. Everything was so nice organized and the surprising part was that everything was for free. So no entrance fee and on most evenings free beer and even free chicken!
So here are few snippets of the festival and my university campus:

The festival site in the morning

A very rare sight in Germany but I thought it was really fascinating to see persimmons growing in our campus

Hi ^.^ Seoul is still really sunny and hot during the day the average temperature is about 28°C

The schools sports field

Everywhere on campus students had different stands where you could try to win some snacks

Gonzaga Plaza- kind of like a mall with lots of different small restaurants

The theme of this festival was Star Wars so we had a lot of different Star Wars themed stuff around school

The place packed with Sogang students

Mamamoo showing some sexy dance moves

My highlight! Hyukoh ♡-I literally love every one of there songs but one of my favorites are 'comes and goes' and 'ohio'
And also I have an Instagram account now @thereugxo where I post much more frequently about my daily life in Seoul !

Changdeokgung Palace & Insadong

My first Seoul related post..yaay! It took me almost three weeks to finally sit down and post something. The truth is that I haven't been on 'tourist' mode like I was two 2 years ago so I don't feel like taking my heavy camera with me every time I go out. But today was an exception because we had a field trip organized by the lovely members of our buddy program. So our destination was Changdeokgung Palace which I haven't been before. Although it was a lovely Palace I found it a bit crowdy maybe it was because of the fact that is was Saturday or maybe it was the fact that almost  200 students from my university came to this field trip. We were separated into smaller groups which we stayed in till the end. After Changdeokgung we walked to Insadong which is a touristy street where they sell all kinds of souvenirs like traditional pottery, dolls and food.

One of the details I love are the little animal figures on the roof

Nakseonjae Complex- which the king built for one of his concubines

My buddy group ^.^
Delicious chicken! I have collected so many food shots I should do an own post just about the food here

Insadong-packed with people

I have photos of this place from two years ago-I felt like I had visited just yesterday

We saw this Mandu place where they sell all kinds of different dumplings - supposedly very famous around

So of course I had to try some! I got the ones with the shrimp filling
